London Symphony Orchestra/Alain Altinoglu - London Symphony Orchestra

London Symphony Orchestra & Christian Tetzlaff

An underground classical night.

7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Barbican Centre

Silk St, Barbican, London EC2Y 8DS, UK

An enticing, wintry new violin concerto by Ondřej Adámek contrasts with the glorious warmth of Mendelssohn’s uplifting choral symphony. Mendelssohn’s Symphony No 2, known as the 'Lobgesang' or 'Hymn of Praise', is a lyrical symphony-cantata featuring beautiful Sinfonias, dreamy arias, and rousing choruses originally composed to celebrate the anniversary of the printing press. The programme also features the UK premiere of Ondřej Adámek’s violin concerto 'Thin Ice', a fiercely imaginative and energetic work. Renowned violinist Christian Tetzlaff, who premiered the piece in 2025, joins the London Symphony Orchestra and Chorus for this spectacular performance in London.
