De leden van de Haagse band Splendid zijn de onbetwiste ambassadeurs van muzikale zonneschijn in Nederland. Met een carrière van meer dan twintig jaar hebben ze een gekoesterde plek veroverd in het Nederlandse muzieklandschap. Hun energieke mix van pop, reggae en hiphop maakt stilzitten vrijwel onmogelijk – iets wat ze keer op keer bewezen hebben op festivals als Lowlands, Zwarte Cross, Sziget, Paaspop en het Fusion Festival in Berlijn. Hun negende album KARATE, wordt gepresenteerd als ’s werelds eerste flow state-album. Het draait niet om eindeloze perfectie, maar om het vastleggen van inspiratie in zijn puurste vorm. “KARATE gaat over flow, discipline en loslaten,” zegt frontman Pat Smith. “Het is een andere benadering van muzikale uitdagingen: vloeiend, krachtig en oprecht. Muziek hoeft geen afgerond product te zijn; het kan een levend proces zijn.”
