Maarja Nuut & Shards: Combing Hair Into Sand
An underground, slow-burn electronic night.
Maarja Nuut presents Liivast juukseid kammides (Combing Hair into Sand), a large-scale work for vocal ensemble, percussion, violin and electronics. Created with British vocal collective Shards and Swiss drummer Nicolas Stocker, the piece is rooted in Estonian poetry by writers such as Eha Lättemäe. The work explores themes of memory, time, and inner reflection, moving between song, spoken word, and sound. Shards opens the performance with an improvised choral set, followed by a collaborative sound world that merges folk influences, experimental electronics, and textured percussion.
