Explore German Romantic lieder and fortepiano interpretations of Johannes Brahms at the Early Music Days festival. Tickets on Mood.
A performance dedicated to the lieder of Johannes Brahms as part of the Early Music Days festival. This musical evening explores the influence of German forests and Rhine folklore on Romantic song, featuring folk songs transformed through Brahms' cavernous harmonic writing. The programme includes vocal performances accompanied by fortepiano, interspersed with instrumental improvisations and wordless songs that evoke a dark, glimmering melancholy. The event is part of the 'Active Pasts' cycle of the Early Music Days festival at the GNO Alternative Stage, which presents historical music as an active field of reinterpretation.
