Shockingly still and quiet as a meditation of death, almost to the film’s detriment on a first watch, but there are ripples of pain that shatter your fabric in Forastera. Seemless as a fusion between the present and past and who exists as a corporeal being and who haunts us, phasing in and out of the world through your granddaughter being a metaphorical vessel as she wears your dress leads to a fairly powerful examination of a family dynamic, whether you view this in a spiritual/supernatural sense or through the weight and burden women and young girls take on with their families. If you sit with the stillness, it will take you to profound places with this one.
