Based in Paris, France, Nico was raised in a French-American family with deep musical roots. At 11, hearing a guitarist cover Polly by Nirvana sparked an immediate revelation: this was the music he wanted to make—and nothing else. Before fully committing to his own project, he pursued studies that took him to New York, where he spent two years performing with La Raza, an Afro-punk band from Brooklyn. He later moved to Buenos Aires, where he wrote his first songs. Reserved and sensitive, Nicolas speaks little but writes a great deal. Music gradually became the space where he chose to reveal what he keeps within, giving rise to a first album that is both intimate and deeply inhabited. Influenced by artists such as Neil Young and Leonard Cohen, he returned to Paris and devoted several months to writing and producing his first French-language EP ready to be release for 2026: A raw, emotionally charged project balancing restrained tension, melodic elegance, and chiaroscuro-like moods.
Nico Dey plays raw, emotionally charged rock music, blending classic influences like Neil Young with melodic elegance.
