Beethoven's Septet, once his most popular work, is presented as a playful 'pocket symphony.' The programme also features Hummel's Piano Septet No. 1, a piece that captures the elegance and vitality of a new era. The performance showcases a slimmed-down ensemble but maintains the enormous musical personalities of two giants who shared a famously irreverent friendship.
