
Black Art Notes
A raw, underground free jazz night.
Leading improvisers and composer-performers are joined by students from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama to perform graphic and open score work by Afrodiasporic composers. Part of George Lewis’s Afrodiasporic Incubator project and curated by Elaine Mitchener, this performance explores the radical and richly experimental work of Afrodiasporic composers from the past and present. The program features scores by Corey Mwamba, Nyokabi Kariũki, Njabulo Phungula, Wadada Leo Smith, and Fay Victor.
