The OAE Plays Mozart and Haydn
A nostalgic, raw choral night.
A musical journey through 18th-century Vienna, exploring the light and shadow of the era's greatest composers. The programme features Haydn’s dramatic Nelson Mass, composed during the height of Napoleon’s threat to Austria, contrasting its turbulent beginning with a celebratory conclusion. The evening also delves into spiritual darkness with Zelenka’s Miserere and Mozart’s Masonic Funeral Music, the latter a poignant tribute to fallen brethren. Soprano Erin Morley performs two of Mozart’s virtuoso insertion arias in this highlight from the BBC Proms festival.
