Pride in Athens

The march and festival are staged in the middle of the city, and the day works as demonstration and celebration at once - political demands from the stage in the afternoon, concerts and DJ sets late into the night. Around the central day runs a programme spread across the week: screenings, talks, exhibitions and parties in venues across town. Greece recognised civil partnership for same-sex couples in 2015 and legislated for same-sex marriage in February 2024, and Athens Pride has been one of the places where those demands were made in public.

Beyond the day of the march, the queer nightlife of Athens runs year-round. Gazi, around Kerameikos station, holds most of the bars and clubs, while events and parties are also staged in the centre, in Metaxourgeio and in venues that change from season to season. The list here shows LGBTQ+ friendly events across the city - parties, concerts and club nights - not only those falling inside Pride week. Out of season it empties, because the peak is concentrated in June; the rest of the nights are spread across the year.
