Violinist Maxim Vengerov joins the London Symphony Orchestra and conductor Sir Antonio Pappano for a performance of Beethoven’s Violin Concerto. The concerto is celebrated for its expansive orchestral introduction and beautiful central movement. The program continues with Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 8, a powerful and harrowing work composed in 1943 during the Battle of Stalingrad that reflects on the horrors of war and human suffering.
