Beethoven’s Ninth - BBC Philharmonic Orchestra

Beethoven’s Ninth

7:00 PM
Royal Albert Hall

Kensington Gore, South Kensington, London SW7 2AP, UK

The BBC Proms presents an evening featuring the monumental power of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, often called the 'Choral' Symphony, a musical cry for freedom and brotherhood culminating in the radiant 'Ode to Joy'. South African cellist Abel Selaocoe returns as soloist for the UK premiere of Jessie Montgomery’s These Righteous Paths, a work inspired by her late mother. The concert opens with Johann Sebastian Bach’s mighty Fantasia and Fugue in G minor, performed in Andrew Davis’s colourful orchestral arrangement. This event marks Gianandrea Noseda’s return to conduct the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.
